Cosmetology student Carmen Powell with Uber driver client
For Jenny Woods, creativity isn’t just a passion – it’s a career in the making. A senior in PSC’s Cosmetology program, Jenny is set to graduate this May, ready to bring bold colors and artistic flair to the beauty industry. Initially a Psychology major, she switched gears to follow in the footsteps of her grandmother, a Panama City hairdresser and salon owner. Jenny plans to stay in Pensacola and hopes to become a colorist for a salon. “I love color. It’s a different and fun way of expressing myself. I feel like Bob Ross painting my ‘happy little trees.’” But her ultimate dream? Becoming a hair and makeup artist for the WWE. “The women’s division in WWE is expressing themselves more openly through their makeup, hair and outfits. I’d love to be a part of that movement.” Her favorite client experience so far reflects her passion for bold and unique looks: a spirited Uber driver requested neon green hair with blue stars dyed around the back of his head – masterfully hand-created by fellow stylist and future colorist Carmen Powell – to match a vibrant blue moustache. The team at the salon was happy to deliver his request. Whether creating striking hair colors in a Pensacola salon or styling superstars under the bright lights of WrestleMania, one thing is certain – Jenny Woods’ future looks vibrant and full of colorful possibilities.
