Second City Out The House Party also set for Nov. 9 in Ashmore Auditorium
Pensacola State College will host an artist presentation by Lara Sophie Benjamin ─ the Great Gulfcoast Arts Festival Invited International Artist for 2022 ─ at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2.
A 2022 Foo Foo Festival event, Benjamin’s presentation will be held in the Anna Lamar Switzer Center for Visual Arts, Building 15, Room 1513. The Great Gulfcoast Arts Festival is set for Nov. 4-6 in Seville Square in downtown Pensacola.
Born in Nicosia, Cyprus, Benjamin is a painter who works primarily in oil paints. She draws subject matter from her everyday surroundings and finds significant resonance in ordinary sights and spaces. Windows and doorways are of particular interest to Benjamin as transitional places ─ where time and action are suspended and both the outside and inside are present. Her painting – Over The Threshold – is an example of a transitional place.
Based in Cyprus, her work has been exhibited in Cyprus, the United Kingdom and France, and is part of many private and public collections, including the National Collection of Cyprus and Central Bank of Cyprus.
The College also will present The Second City Out of the House Party at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9, in Ashmore Auditorium.
Admission is $11 for adults; $9 for senior citizens, non-PSC students and children; $7 for PSC alumni, employees and Senior Club members; and free to all PSC students with a current student I.D.
Tickets are available online at performingarts.PensacolaState.edu. For more information about the concert or for tickets, call the PSC Lyceum Box Office at 850-484-1847.
