The Pensacola State College Team won first place in the 27th YMCA Corporate Cup Challenge (Large Company Division) held on Oct. 7.
Held on the College’s walking track, the YMCA Corporate Cup Challenge helps to increase employee health and fitness, develop community spirit, and boost company morale, all while raising scholarship funds for the Y’s All Scholarship Fund. Companies are divided into two divisions based on employees and team members compete in 20 events.
The Institute for Human and Machine Cognition won first in the Small Company Division. Gulf Winds Credit Union won the Spirit of the Games Award.
Ascension Sacred Heart – Team Mario and Navy Federal Credit Union Admirals won second and third, respectively, in the Large Company Division. Meraki Solar and Gulf Winds Credit Union placed second and third, respectively, in the Small Company Division.
Making up Pensacola State’s “Dream Team” were Maria E. Brake, Mikayla Bowen, Kirk Bradley, Stephanie Denmark, Sarah Hallett, Samantha Hill, Mike Listau, Devodric McBride, Briana Moore, Bri Nesiti, Joseph Peterson, Mitzie Sowell, Jon Stephenson, John Vitale, Chandler White and Quentshon Wilson.
The PSC Team placed in several events:
- Joseph Peterson placed second in Closest to the Pin
- Chandler White placed third in Hula Hoop It Up
- Mikayla Bowen, Kirk Bradley, Stephanie Denmark, John McTally, Bri Nesiti and Jon Stephenson placed third in the Bucket Challenge.
“We earned 81 points,” said McBride, the team’s captain. “It was all about teamwork and preparation for this event, and we came out on top. Our team members put in a lot of sweat and effort preparing for the Corporate Challenge, but it was worth it. Not only did we work as a team, but we had a great time working together.”
