At the halfway mark of the season, Pensacola State baseball remains in the fight, currently standing at 4-4 in conference play. With a young roster facing tough competition early on, Head Coach Bryan Lewallyn describes the season as one of resilience and perseverance.
“We hit the restart button after some challenges early in the season,” said Lewallyn. “As any season goes, adversity sets in. We got decimated with injuries right as we started to peak, which forced several key players to the sidelines.”
But rather than let setbacks define their season, the Pirates found strength in their depth.
“The great thing to see is that other players stepped into opportunities they might not have had otherwise,” Lewallyn continued. “Collectively, the team continues to battle, compete, and give it everything they have.”
Despite the challenges, PSC Baseball has maintained a competitive edge – and just as importantly, they are having fun doing it.
“As a coach, it’s been a lot of fun watching this group of young men not only work hard and play hard but also enjoy the process.”
The Pirates hit the road next week for a two-game series at Gulf Coast State College on April 1 and 3, before returning home for a doubleheader on Saturday, April 5, at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.
Come out and cheer on the Pirates as they continue their fight on the home field!
