Pensacola State College’s Homecoming Week 2025 was filled with excitement, camaraderie and school spirit, culminating in the crowning of Gabriel Nees and Makayla Jolean as PSC’s Homecoming King and Queen.
The royal coronation took place on Feb. 12 in Hartsell Arena, during the intermission between Pirates’ basketball games against Gulf Coast State College. PSC President Ed Meadows had the honor of crowning the new King and Queen, celebrating their dedication to student engagement and leadership.
Nees, a business major and PSC student ambassador, expressed his enthusiasm for actively contributing to campus life. “I love to be involved and really be a part of PSC culture, not just watch activities from the stands,” Nees said. “As Homecoming King, I plan to be even more active – volunteering and showing that making a difference is really what matters. We, as students, can be a big part of shaping our school if we just step up and really get involved.”
Jolean, a cosmetology major, was deeply honored to be named Homecoming Queen. She hopes to be a welcoming and positive presence for fellow students. “Anyone can come up to me anytime to talk,” she said. “I love getting to know people. My goal is to spread love and happiness, make sure people feel supported, and be someone who brings comfort and encouragement.”
The Homecoming Court showcased some of PSC’s most spirited students, each representing the College with pride: Oshay Creer – Pre-nursing; Cooper Dalrymple – Computer Programming and Analysis; Anetia Dukes – Pre-nursing; Tyriq Flowers – A.A. candidate; Shakevia Kirkland – Pre-nursing; Jodee Maloy – Radiology; Troy Mims – Criminal Justice; and Tiyona Osorio – Cosmetology.
PSC’s Homecoming Week, hosted by Student Affairs and the Student Engagement team, was packed with activities to bring students, faculty, staff, and alumni together. Highlights included:
- Cookouts that brought students together over great food and fun
- A scavenger hunt to find hidden pirate telescopes across all campuses
- A faculty and student meet-and-greet, followed by an intense basketball showdown where faculty and staff claimed victory over students for this year’s bragging rights
- A pre-coronation social in the Donn Peery Room, where students and alumni connected before the big event, the crowning of the Homecoming King and Queen
With Homecoming 2025 now in the books, PSC looks ahead to another year of school spirit, student leadership, and Pirate pride!
