Pensacola State College selected a new Homecoming King and Queen during festivities held the week of Feb. 12. Chase Dixon and Anna Leigh Spence were crowned the College’s 2024 Homecoming King and Queen on Feb. 14 in Hartsell Arena. Associate Vice President of Student Affairs Jon Stephenson crowned the royals during the intermission of the women’s and men’s basketball games between Northwest Florida State College.
A hospitality management major, Dixon was surprised to be voted the king.
“I’ve enjoyed attending Pensacola State, and being named homecoming king is just the cherry on top,” said Dixon, a 2023 Navarre High School.
Spence, a criminal justice major, said she was honored to be selected.
“I didn’t expect this when I signed up,” said the 2023 Northview High School graduate. “Still, I’m excited to represent the College at this level.”
The 2023 PSC Homecoming King Derek Olford was also on hand to pass the scepter and congratulate the new royals.
“My year as king was wonderful. I had the opportunity to throw out a first pitch at a Blue Wahoos game and met with many young people who expressed interest in attending Pensacola State,” said Olford, a registered nursing student who plans to graduate in August 2024.
“I’m excited to meet the new king and queen and members of their court. The next year will be an exciting one for them all.”
Homecoming court members were Tera Bourgeois, a nursing major; Sheena Carach, business; Jaylnn Dawn Gates, elementary education; Peyton Owens, general studies/pre-radiology; Tyriq Flowers, nursing; Tommy McTaggart, nursing; and Marshall Allen Sechrist, general studies.
Other Homecoming Week activities included cookouts, fundraisers, giveaways on all campuses/centers, and a Staff vs. Students basketball game.
Homecoming Week concluded with a Military Appreciation Day Basketball Game against Gulf Coast State College on Feb. 17 in Hartsell Arena. The games were preceded by a Military Appreciation Tailgate hosted by the Veteran Student Success Center on the Pensacola campus.
