Ashmore Auditorium had a full house for the first Pirate Path New Student Orientation session on July 30 on the Pensacola campus.
Bailee Petry won the prize for having traveled the farthest. She and her parents drove 14 hours from Clinton, Iowa.
“We arrived Sunday (July 28) night,” said Petry, who has relatives in the Pensacola area. “I want to major in business with a criminal justice component,” she added.
Best buds ─ Logan Honaker, Brooks Queen and Taylor Brennan ─ drove from Gulfport, Mississippi. The 2023 and 2024 high school grads are moving to Pensacola on Aug. 16.
“We all wanted to go to college, and we heard good things about Pensacola State,” Honaker said.
During the orientation, students were briefed on tips for academic success, student resources, and even social media by Associate Vice President of Student Affairs Jon Stephenson, Head of the Business Department Dr. Michael Payne and Marketing and Information Multimedia Media Specialist Olivia Potts.
Pete the Pirate even made an appearance to welcome the students to the College.
