Sterling Hill and Grace Rhodes have done almost everything together since they were toddlers.
On May 9, the couple joined more than 80 other Pensacola State College Associate in Science in Nursing and Bachelor of Science in Nursing graduates at the pinning ceremony at First Pentecostal Church in Pensacola.
“It feels great to finally have it all done,” Hill, 23, said. “It was a great experience, especially the clinicals.”
Rhode, 22, took a second to recognize nursing faculty member Marla Magaha.
“Mrs. Magaha was an amazing angel. She never refused an email or a phone call when I reached out to her,” Rhodes shared.
The two – who were homeschooled and earned their associate degrees together – are heading to the Pacific Northwest for positions in Washington state.
“No matter where we go, we will always remember and cherish our time at Pensacola State College,” Rhodes added.
Dr. Julie Ann Zemaitis DeCesar was the keynote speaker at the ceremony. DeCesar, a Pennsylvania native, was a nurse before attending medical school.
“I worked all through medical school as a nurse,” said Dr. Cesar, who challenged the nursing graduates to continually enhance their skills.
