Pensacola State College launched its inaugural “I am PSC Campaign” on October 1st. The campaign will run through December 5th and will be an opportunity to support scholarships that uplift PSC students.
As the College celebrates 75 years of academic achievement and community impact, the “I am PSC Campaign” is an opportunity to honor and connect with alumni, students, and supporters. Pensacola State College President, Dr. Ed Meadows, encourages participants to share their reason for supporting the College by going to IamPSC.org. Once there, they can share what they believe makes Pensacola State College special. Meadows shared his appreciation of those who have already contributed to the campaign, saying, “We appreciate every gift that validates a belief in the impact [we] can make on students’ lives. The December 5th campaign celebration will be a chance for participants to enjoy time together and mingle with others who share their desire to make students’ lives better.”
Donors are well on their way of helping reach a campaign goal of raising $75,000 to support scholarships. Campaign funds are partially focused on universal scholarships, that can open doors and empower students from diverse backgrounds and in a variety of fields. With a generous matching program, every dollar donated will be matched 100 percent up to a $10,000 individual match and the $75,000 goal, amplifying the difference donors make. Every donation empowers students like Kelsey Andrews and Constance Stewart to achieve their aspirations and create a better future for themselves and their families.
“Thank you for making this scholarship possible,” says Kelsey Andrews who is attending PSC while juggling a career as a bartender and server. “At times I’ve felt aimless, trying to discover my purpose over the past couple of years. I always knew I wanted to go back to school but was nervous about my ability to afford it. This scholarship has made it possible for me to return to school and pursue my passions. Your support is helping me get one step closer to changing my life.” Kelsey Andrews is a grateful recipient of the Universal Scholarship. “I’m incredibly appreciative of this invaluable opportunity.”
Constance Stewart, another Universal Scholarship recipient, also shared, “Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for the opportunity that you have given me with this scholarship. It is truly an honor to have the support that allows me to continue pursuing my career in Mechanical Design and Fabrication. My father passed away over seven years ago now; since then, I have become very passionate about this field and wanted to follow in his footsteps to make him proud. Even though he cannot physically be here to witness it, I know he is still watching over me from above. Thank you for allowing me to pursue my dream and honor my father.”
Every donor, regardless of gift level, will be invited to the campaign’s grand celebration event on December 5th. At 4:30 p.m., doors will open to all donors to celebrate being part of I am PSC, and Molly McGuire School of Culinary Arts students will provide an array of appetizers and sweet treats. Additionally, donors with gifts of $75 and above will receive a limited edition “I am PSC” sponsored T-shirt.
Current and past Foundation Governors, District Board of Trustees members, and College Emeriti will attend this celebration of $75,000 raised to mark 75 years of PSC excellence.
“As the oldest institution of higher education in our region, Pensacola State College has proudly served the community for 75 years. Business leaders, donors and students depend on the affordability of the quality education provided at PSC,” commented Andrea Krieger, Executive Director of Institutional Development at PSC. “We are proud to work with these individuals to offer scholarships that ensure education and workforce training are available to help students improve stagnant family incomes. The ‘I am PSC Campaign’ is an exciting opportunity to highlight the enthusiastic support of our beloved institution.”
Community members who are ready to make a difference should contact Laura Hill at (850) 484-1564 or lhill@pensacolastate.edu to sponsor the event and to join in making the “I am PSC Campaign” a success.
