PSC Student Ambassador Hope Lashley is on track to graduate in spring 2027 with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Business and Management and plans to pursue a marketing career.
Hope Lashley is a fourth-year student at Pensacola State College. After earning her Associate of Arts degree in spring 2025, she is now on track to complete the Bachelor of Applied Science in Business and Management with a concentration in human resources management in spring 2027.
A 2023 graduate of Jay High School, Lashley began her PSC journey in Milton before her academic program brought her to the Pensacola campus, where she has become a familiar face at college celebrations and events as a student ambassador.
Family is the heart of her decision-making, including her choice to attend college close to home.
“I knew I wanted to go here pretty soon after I started high school,” she said. “I have always wanted to stay local because I am very family oriented, and PSC has provided the best of both worlds for me, continuing my education at a reputable college while getting to stay close and connected to my family.”
“I chose Pensacola State College because it felt like home. Everyone here created a warm and welcoming environment, and that only solidified my commitment to PSC even more.”
That commitment has only grown during her time at PSC. As she looks toward graduation, Lashley has even considered future employment at the college.
“I have always loved the creative side of business, like communication and branding, and seeing how it brings people to an organization. I have even thought about looking for a marketing job here at PSC,” she said.
No matter where she lands with her degree, home and family will remain at the center of her career decisions.
“My big dream is to build a family. I obviously want a successful career, but having a home and raising a family has always been a dream of mine.”
If Lashley approaches life after college with the same energy and enthusiasm she demonstrates as a PSC student, she is well positioned to achieve those dreams. In addition to serving as a PSC student ambassador, she is a member of the Student Government Association and maintains an active life off campus.
“I applied to be a PSC Student Ambassador because I wanted to be involved on campus, and community service has always been important to me,” she said. “What I enjoy most about my role is meeting new students and helping them feel welcome, giving tours of our Pensacola campus and helping put on events that bring the college together. It is nice to feel like you are making a difference in someone’s college experience.”
Lashley said her experience at PSC has positively impacted her academic and personal growth. She credits smaller class sizes and a supportive environment with helping her succeed in reaching her educational goals and building relationships with staff, including Student Services Executive Assistant Cyndi Fairfield, adviser for the PSC Student Ambassadors program.
“Everyone I have come in contact with since starting at PSC has made an impact on me, but one who specifically stands out is Mrs. Cyndi Fairfield,” Lashley said. “She gives me advice and guidance on everything, not just school. She encourages and supports me when I need it or calms me down when I am feeling overwhelmed and need someone to talk to. She has truly made a difference, and I will forever be grateful for her.”
Outside of school, Lashley babysits part time and enjoys spending time on the river, with friends and with her three-year-old border collie, Nicki. She enjoys DIY projects at home and even yardwork.
“People might be surprised to know that I love cutting grass!”
“My advice to students who juggle many different roles is to stay organized and give yourself grace,” she said. “Using a planner and setting priorities makes a huge difference.”
