The Pensacola State College Charter Academy was one of three high schools in the Escambia County Public Schools district to earn an A grade for the 2025-2026 academic year. This marks the third consecutive year the PSC Charter Academy has received the top rating from the Florida Department of Education.
According to the FDOE, school grades ranging from A to F provide an easily understandable measure of school performance, helping parents and the general public assess how well each school serves its students.
The PSC Charter Academy’s enrollment for the year totaled 201, up from 129 the previous year — a 56% increase. Enrollment for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year remains open until all available seats have been filled for classes beginning Aug. 17.
“For the new school year, we are close to doubling our enrollment and approaching our capacity with openings primarily in the 11th and 12th grades,” said Principal Karen McCabe, Ed.D., about the school’s consistent growth as she enters her fifth year at the helm.
Established in fall 2022 with grades 11 and 12, the public high school expanded by 2024 to serve students in grades 9 through 12, offering rigorous coursework and the opportunity to earn high school and college credit simultaneously. Since the school’s opening, the PSC Charter Academy has awarded its high school diploma to 102 graduates, sixty of whom also received the Associate in Arts degree from PSC, without paying tuition.
“We are extremely proud of our students and grateful for the support we have received from their families and the community,” said McCabe. “We look forward to continued growth and success.”
The PSC Charter Academy is located in the Douglas V. Broxson Charter Academy Building, Bldg. 11 on the college’s Pensacola campus. Renovations to the facility, which totaled more than $1.3 million, were completed in 2025.
