The National Association of Veterans Upward Bound awarded PSC Veterans Upward Bound Project Director Rob Gregg its highest honor, the NAVUB Eagle Award, on April 14 during the organization’s national conference in Boston. The award recognizes exceptional service beyond the call of duty to the NAVUB and its mission to support veterans in educational pursuits.
Gregg was nominated for the honor by Southeastern Louisiana University Veterans Upward Bound Senior Program Director Chevonne Neal, who said he has always believed it was important to be associated with and an active member of the national organization.
“Robbie Gregg represents excellence as one who has served his country and continues to serve veterans in his professional role at Pensacola State College and the surrounding community,” she said. “He has been involved in every facet of the NAVUB association and has served us well.”
As an NAVUB member, Gregg has served as the national organization’s president, past president, vice president and board member; a mentor for directors in the Southeastern Association of Educational Opportunity Program Personnel (SAEOPP); a conference workshop presenter for the NAVUB and the Council for Opportunity in Education (COE); a COE Policy Seminar attendee, the NAVUB Legislative Commission chair; and an Emerging Leaders Institute (ELI) participant. He has also been commended for regularly attending NAVUB Thursday Chats and lending extraordinary support to NAVUB Hospitality.
“In all of his roles, I have observed his sincerity, care, optimism and professionalism, which equals excellence to me,” said Neal. “He has been open to sharing his knowledge and experience with the intent of members learning and sharing, but moreover delivering services to veterans at the end of the day.”
