Florida State University Police Chief David Perry was the Campus Safety Month featured speaker on Monday, March 13, on the Pensacola campus.
Perry discussed how his department responded to the Nov. 20, 2014, shooting at the Tallahassee university where three people were injured when former FSU alumnus Myron May opened fire at Strozier Library. May was shot and killed by FSU police within minutes of receiving the emergency call.
Other recent Campus Safety Month events included Rape Aggression Defense classes held Friday, March 10, and Monday, March 13, on the Pensacola campus. The South Santa Rosa Center held a Safety Day on Wednesday, March 8. First responders from Midway Fire Department and the Santa Rosa County Emergency Medical Service Lifeguard Ambulance Service visited the campus and met with faculty, staff and students.
Also, students, faculty and staff at the Century and Pensacola campuses were treated to doughnuts and lunch.
