Pensacola State College’s Business Affairs Vice President Anita Kovacs, C.P.A., has received the 2026 Distinguished Service Award from the Southern Association of College and University Business Officers.

Pensacola State College’s Business Affairs Vice President Anita Kovacs, C.P.A., received the 2026 Distinguished Service Award from the Southern Association of College and University Business Officers on April 19 during the organization’s annual conference in Dallas.

Kovacs was selected for her significant contributions to higher education and dedicated service to the SACUBO and the National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO), along with many state leadership positions in Florida.

Kovacs is currently an ex officio member of NACUBO’s Accounting Principles Council and represents NACUBO as a member of the Governmental Accounting Standards Advisory Committee (GASAC). She has served in various capacities with SACUBO to organize educational opportunities for higher education professional development.

Within Florida, Kovacs chairs the Florida College System’s Accounting Committee and has served as chair of the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) Subcommittee since 2005. She has led implementation efforts within the Florida College System for GASB 103, which incorporates improvements into the Financial Reporting Model for the current year-end. She also serves as an ex officio member of the Florida College System Council of Business Affairs Steering Committee, and she serves on the Operations Committee of the Florida College System Risk Management Consortium.

SACUBO Assistant Director Kat Thornton said that Kovac’s extensive experience and sustained commitment at both the institutional and association levels truly set her apart as an exceptional candidate for the Distinguished Service Award honor.
