The PSC Women’s Soccer team won its second straight NJCAA Region 8 Women’s Soccer Championship after defeating Pasco-Hernando State College in back-to-back triumphs on Oct. 17 and 18, winning 3-0 each match.
In the Championship match, per the PSC Athletics website, the morning started off rocky for the Pirates, who struggled to find their rhythm and faced numerous offsides while creating scoring opportunities. Midway through the first half, they gave up a penalty, but the Bobcats missed their chance to take the lead.
At halftime, the Pirates regrouped and reflected on their performance, determined to step up their game. The second half began with some uncertainty, but soon the Pirates found their momentum. With renewed energy and hunger, they dominated the play, scoring three goals in the second half. Goals came from Paige Phillips assisted by Maddie Motes. Phillips found the back of the net a second time, this time assisted by Maya Figueroa and Maddie Motes, Vivian Kettenhausen scored the third goal assisted by Maya Figueroa and Emma Toms.
PSC will now prepare for the NJCAA Division II South Atlantic District Championship Game on Saturday, Nov. 2 at 1:00 p.m. EST, hosted by the Region 10 Champions Cape Fear Community College. The game will be livestreamed on https://fan.hudl.com/usa/nc/wilmington/organization/59654/cape-fear-cc/video
