Ella Merrick won the President’s Choice Award for “New Sneakers.”
Juried show features artwork from Escambia, Santa Rosa juniors, seniors
Tin Tran’s “Weave the Clouds, Forge the Waves” was selected Best of Show at the 2024 Juried High School Awards Exhibition ceremony.
Hosted and juried by Pensacola State College’s Anna Society members, the exhibition is on display in the Charles W. Lamar Studio until Aug. 2. The awards ceremony held June 25 featured a collection of artworks by Escambia County and Santa Rosa County high school juniors and seniors.
Tran, a Tate High School student, also received a President’s Choice Award ─ Honorable Mention for the painting.
Ella Merrick, a Pace High student, won the President’s Choice Award for “New Sneakers.”
Mollie Goto, a Gulf Breeze High student, won the Visual Arts Department Award for “Body of Christ.”
Pace High student Gianna Tagliere received the Aspiring Anna Award for “Low Blood Sugar Binge,” which also earned a President’s Choice Award ─ Honorable Mention.
Other winners were:
- First place and President’s Choice Award ─ Honorable Mention: Aaliyah Bryant, “Self-Portrait” (Navarre High School)
- Second place: Layla Brown, “Depth” (Jay High School)
- Third place: Samantha Tracy, “Merlot & Ruin” (Tate High School).

Outstanding Achievement Awards winners were:
- Jacquelyn Howard, “Meet at the River;” Ella Nelson, “Owl;” Maggie Hudson, “The Cat’s Meow; and Jacklyn Salter, “Passion;” (Jay High School)
- Jennifer Johnson, “Yo Y Las Flores” (Escambia High School).
Other President’s Choice Award ─ Honorable Mention winners were:
- Oceana Emerson, “X.O.” (PSC Charter Academy)
- Katelyn Livingston, “Summer Days” (Home Education)
- Jaden Bush, “Fire by the Creek” and Maggie Hudson, “The Cat’s Meow” (Jay High School).
Anna Society members actively support the College’s Visual Arts department and contribute to the growth and success of the Anna Lamar Switzer Center for Visual Arts.
The Charles W. Lamar Studio is located in the Anna Lamar Switzer Center, Building 15, on the Pensacola campus at 1000 College Blvd. Gallery hours are 8 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday. Tours are available with prior arrangements.
