Sam Smith, the Pensacola State College assistant director of Workday Solutions, has been named to the Pensacola Women’s Alliance Board of Directors.
Made up of professional and business women, the Pensacola Women’s Alliance (PWA) is dedicated to promoting the advancement of local women. Formed in 1982 by Diane Miller and Isabella Grimes, the nonprofit’s mission includes providing scholarships to women at Pensacola State College and the University of West Florida.
Smith joined PWA in 2022 to become more involved in the community and to meet and build strong relationships with like-minded individuals.
“I have met many extraordinary women as a member, and I’m excited to gain experience and knowledge from my fellow board members in my first-ever board position,” said Smith, who will serve on the board until December 2025.
Smith, a Pensacola State alumna, joined the PSC family in 2021 to help students navigate the then-new Workday system. Before being named to her current position, she was the coordinator of Workday Change Management.
A Pensacola native, Smith earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Phoenix and holds a master’s degree in English and Creative Writing from Southern New Hampshire University.
Smith and her husband, Rudy, are parents to three fur babies ─ beloved felines Axxl, Bdochi and Coco. In her spare time, she enjoys reading and gardening.
“I love dystopian stories. I recently finished ‘The Hunger Games’ series for the second time and read the prequel, ‘The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes,’ that came out last year,” she shared.
Her foray into gardening began about three years ago when she and her husband purchased a condominium.
“After finally having an outdoor space, I took after my parents and discovered my green thumb,” Smith said. “I have herbs, plants, flowers, and a lemon tree I grew from a seed! My favorite thing now is propagating plants. I’ve probably gifted or created nearly 10 new plants from my office pothos plant.”
