There will be models sashaying and showing off spectacularly artistic and creative hair and makeup designs at the Pensacola State College “Dream On Hair Show” at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 21, at the Hagler Auditorium, Building 2A, in the Pensacola campus.
The show stars students from the PSC Cosmetology program who dream up hair styles and makeup for a fellow student to model for judges. Most teams will feature three students – a makeup artist, a hair stylist and a model, who is also a Cosmetology program student. All three members helped create the theme and design that the team would implement and replicate with the model. The Cosmetology students are from the Pensacola and the Milton campuses, as well as the Century Center, which relaunched its Cosmetology program this semester after years of inactivity.
More than 50 students are participating in the show, which will be judged by members of the cosmetology industry.
Cosmetology student Samantha Hummel will sing a few songs to give the occasion even more of a festive, shindig feel.
“It’s going to be over the top,’’ said Kimberly Markwick, a PSC assistant professor and Cosmetology Coordinator. “It’s going to be very avant-garde and should be fun to watch. I know the students are very excited because they get to showcase what they have been learning. It’s also a good way for them to reach out to other industry leaders within our area.”
