The renowned Spelman College Glee Club performs a free concert at 7 p.m. Monday, March 7, at Pensacola State College’s Jean and Paul Amos Studio, WSRE-TV Building 23, 1000 College Blvd.
The public is invited and the doors open at 6:30 p.m.
Recognized for its choral excellence for more than 50 years, the Spelman College Glee Club’s repertoire includes sacred and secular selections for women’s voices with special emphasis on traditional spirituals, music by African-American composers, music from many cultures and commissioned works.
The all-women’s choral group has traveled throughout the country performing for a variety of audiences in concert halls such as Faneuil Hall in Boston, the Brooklyn Academy of Music, Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center and in churches, high schools, colleges and universities. Their international travels have taken them to Brazil and Canada.
The event is sponsored by Gulf Power, Marriot Courtyard, Pensacola Chapter of The Links Inc., and Pensacola State College’s Black History/Multicultural Committee.
