Pensacola State College dedicated its new nonprofit training room to Florida Power & Light on Nov. 15 in appreciation of the company’s substantial support of the College.
The Florida Power & Light Company Nonprofit Center Training Room is located in the PSC Nonprofit Center Annex, Building 17, on the PSC Pensacola campus.
The Nonprofit Center for Excellence at Pensacola State College was established in December 2018 after the Gulf Power Foundation made a five-year, $150,000 commitment to help kickstart the Center and support students and nonprofit professionals attending workshops and professional training.
In 2021, Gulf Power merged into Florida Power & Light and the company has pledged to continue the commitment to support the College and Nonprofit Center for Excellence.
“We are grateful that Florida Power & Light and the FPL Foundation have continued this strong history of support,’’ said Andrea Krieger, PSC Foundation Executive Director of Institutional Development. “Today, we are dedicating this room while celebrating the impact and reach that their gift has already created.”
Since 2019, the Nonprofit Center for Excellence has hosted over 37 training sessions that were attended by more than 500 people from more than 90 Northwest Florida nonprofits.
“Pensacola State College and FPL share a strong, long-standing partnership as we are both committed to bettering our communities,” said J.T. Young, Northwest Florida Vice President. “We are humbled that this training room named in recognition of our combined vision and support, will provide our nonprofit and philanthropic organization professionals a home for building the skills they need to support their missions in Northwest Florida.”
The Florida Power & Light Company Nonprofit Center Training Room is the largest room in the PSC Nonprofit Center Annex and can hold around 50 people.
Over the past 55 years, Florida Power & Light/Gulf Power has given more than $700,000 to support the College.
“On behalf of the Pensacola State College Board of Governors, I’m pleased to express our appreciation of the Florida Power & Light Company and the Florida Power & Light Foundation,’’ said Trey Poirier, President of the PSC Foundation Board of Governors.
“We are grateful for your investment of $150,000 that will help ensure nonprofit professionals and community volunteers can learn best practices from successful nonprofit and business leaders.”
