The magical, record-breaking snowfall of Pen-snow-cola 2025 inspired childlike fun and festivities around the community
We all knew it was coming, but no one expected just how much fun and entertainment the record-breaking snowfall would bring! According to Wikipedia, Pensacola recorded 8.9 inches of snow, shattering the city’s previous 24-hour snowfall record of 3 inches set in February 1985.
The unprecedented snowfall led to Pensacola State College shutting down for the week, roads and bridges closing, and power outages across the region. But that didn’t stop hearty Pirates from making the most of this rare winter wonderland!
People of all ages – many of whom had never seen snow before – took to the outdoors, sledding and building snowmen, strolling through parks as snowflakes collected on their eyelashes like tiny diamonds, and capturing once-in-a-lifetime photos of this historic event.
The PSC Marketing invited students, faculty, staff, and alumni to share their snowy fun by submitting photos for a contest, and boy, did they ever get them – 53 of them, to be exact!
You can vote for your favorite winter wonderland photo until noon this Friday, Jan. 31, by visiting our Pensacola State College Facebook page Pen-snow-cola Pirates. Winners will be announced at 4 p.m. that same day, so be ready for the big reveal!
The Top 5 winners will receive exclusive PSC swag from the College’s Marketing team, and ALL participants will get a Pensacola State Pirates beanie to proudly wear the next time Pensacola turns into a winter wonderland!
(Winners, keep an eye on your e-mail for instructions from PSC Marketing on how to collect your prizes!)
