Among Florida institutions, Pensacola State is ranked No. 5 behind No. 1 Florida International University, No. 2 the University of Central Florida, No. 6 Daytona State College and No. 11 St. Petersburg College in the Intelligent.com rankings.
“I am very pleased that we ranked where we did – nationally and in Florida,” said Pensacola State College President Ed Meadows.
“Intelligent.com evaluated us against traditional universities, colleges and state colleges. This speaks very well of our online RN to BSN program, which is very affordable and accessible to health care professionals who want to continue their education.”
The cost per credit hour for the College’s online RN to BSN program is $120 for in-state students and $486 for out-of-state students. Students must complete 120 hours of credit to graduate from the program.
Pensacola State earned an “Intelligent Score” of 92.81 (out of 100) in the organization’s comprehensive report, which analyzed over 3,000 academic institutions.
An exclusive methodology ranks each institution on a scale from 0 to 100 across six categories. Evaluations are based on quantitative measures such as academic quality, graduation rate, cost and ROI (return on investment), and student resources.
Dusti Sluder, Pensacola State’s dean of Health Sciences, said she is proud of the online RN to BSN program and the reputation it has earned since its inception in 2011.
“The high ranking further validates the quality of the education that Pensacola State is committed to delivering,” Sluder said.
Launched in 2011, the College’s online RN to BSN program accommodates students already working in the health care field. To date, more than 420 students have earned Bachelor of Science in Nursing degrees from PSC.
Corey Lofton, the College’s Director of Nursing, said it is truly an honor to guide a team of dedicated faculty members who contribute daily to the nationally-ranked nursing program.
“This recognition reflects the dedication and hard work of our faculty, staff and students in upholding the highest standards of nursing education. In the RN to BSN Program, we strive for excellence in nursing education while actively contributing to community health for impactful quality care,” he said.
Pensacola State’s online RN to BSN program was also the first in the region to earn accreditations from the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing and the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. The commissions are two of only three national accrediting bodies recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
