The University of West Florida and Pensacola State College celebrated the launch of a redesigned and extended PSC2UWF program, which features new benefits, at a signing ceremony on March 5 at the PSC campus.
PSC2UWF creates a more accessible, streamlined pathway for students to transfer from PSC and earn a bachelor’s degree from UWF. Students will now receive enhanced advising and support from a UWF transfer pathways coach who will check in each semester to monitor students’ progress and ensure they are on the quickest path to completing their degree.
The new agreement also includes a reverse transfer option for PSC and gives students access to a personalized UWF degree audit to track their progress toward earning a bachelor’s degree while pursuing an associate degree at PSC.
“Together, we are strengthening a partnership that benefits both our students and the community,” said UWF President Martha D. Saunders. “We anticipate that many students will take advantage of the program’s extended benefits, and I am looking forward to welcoming them to the Argo Nation.”
Additional benefits of the program include guaranteed admission, easy transfer of official records and a waived application fee. PSC2UWF students also receive a 2UWF student ID, giving them access to UWF events, campus resources and facilities. Eligibility requires that students be enrolled as an associate degree-seeking student at PSC with a minimum overall combined GPA of 2.00 and actively follow the 2UWF plan. To qualify, students cannot have previously taken any classes at UWF or hold a bachelor’s degree. More than 200 students have participated in PSC2UWF since its inception in 2014.
PSC President Ed Meadows said he was pleased to enter into the articulation agreement to better serve students.
“When institutions work together for the betterment of their students, it is a triple win, win, win,” Meadows said. “Not only are the students completing an associate degree from PSC, but they are also gaining access to numerous services provided by both institutions, and learning early about the process of successful matriculation from PSC to UWF. This will help ensure less time to complete both degrees and lower the financial burden on students and their families.”
UWF and PSC have a longstanding history of collaboration to improve and increase higher education accessibility in Northwest Florida, allowing the community to retain students. In addition to PSC2UWF, the institutions work together to create a pathway from an associate degree all the way to earning a master’s degree from UWF.
