22 seniors will also earn associate degrees
Retired U.S. Navy Rear Adm. Donald Quinn will be the keynote speaker at Pensacola State College’s Charter Academy graduation.
Forty-four graduating seniors will receive diplomas at the commencement exercises set for 6 p.m. Monday, May 13, in the Jean and Paul Amos Performance Studio on the Pensacola campus.
Twenty-two graduates will also earn associate in arts degrees by the end of summer 2024.
Quinn retired from the Navy in 2014 after over 34 years of service. His final posting was as head of the Pensacola Naval Air Station-based Naval Education and Training Command, which oversees the training of more than 50,000 sailors and Marines worldwide.
A naval flight officer, Quinn flew missions in an A-6 Intruder fighter jet during Operation Desert Storm and served as the commander of Naval Air Training and head of the training for the Navy’s Strike Force Atlantic.
Quinn’s other shore tours included instructor duty in the Pacific Fleet A-6 Fleet Replacement Squadron; serving as aide to Commander, Medium Attack Tactical Electronic Warfare Wing PACIFIC; in-residence education at the Naval War College; joint duty in the Targeting Division of Atlantic Intelligence Command, and as the Director of Aviation Officer Distribution at Navy Personnel Command.
He holds master’s degrees in National Security and Strategic Studies and General Management. Quinn was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal, the Distinguished Flying Cross and a Bronze Star.
Quinn currently works as a consultant on manpower, talent management, training, and education issues and is engaged in several ministries at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Pensacola. He serves on the Pensacola Navy League and Greater Pensacola Chamber boards.
Quinn and his wife, the former Jean Marie Mazzo, have four children and eight grandchildren.
