Jennie Bachmeier, a job developer in Pensacola State College’s Career and Technical Education Department, has been selected as the September Talent of the Month by Kelly Services.
Bachmeier joined the Pensacola State family in August 2016. She was nominated by her supervisor, Deborah Hooks who described Bachmeier as extremely humble and dedicated.
“Jennie is responsible for placing work study students, going over all of the rules with faculty members and students, and she works closely with financial aid on placement of our students,” Hooks said.
“This is a huge responsibility in itself. However she does way more than this ─ Jennie also inputs industry certifications into our system which is so important because it is through certifications that the college receives funds, as well as the student if they pass these industry certifications.”
Bachmeier said she was really surprised at being selected the September Talent of the Month.
“My first thoughts were ‘I hope I’m not in trouble,’” said Bachmeier about being notified of the accolade. “Dean (Debbie) Douma was here, so when Mrs. Hooks called me and said to come to her office, I was wondering what was going on.”
Always smiling and upbeat, Bachmeier said she felt very lucky to be nominated and selected.
“I always try to do my best on my job and I just really want the department to have as many certifications as possible,” she said. “I love working in this department, my coworkers are like a second family. Most of my family is in New York but my director and coworkers are just great. We treat each other like family and that really makes me feel good.”
Bachmeier also tracks the Career and Technical Education Department’s enrollment and completers each week and notifies faculty members about the status of students’ certification exams.
“Tracking these students and monitoring these programs every day is so important ─ so that we do not miss any industry certifications the college could receive funds for is a big responsibility,” Hooks added.
“Jennie also assists our CTE coordinator with job fairs and in securing donations for these events. She is always ready and eager to complete any task that I give her even when her plate is completely full with just work study issues.”
Dawn Hope, Kelly Services account talent manager, is seeking nominees for Talent of the Month.
“If you have a Kelly employee you would like us to consider for the Talent of the Month, send the submission to me,” Hope said. “If you don’t have a submission, but would like to help me pick the winner for October, that would be awesome.”
