Campus Safety Month 2018

“What can we do to keep our schools safe?” The answers are varied, but the one thing that remains constant is the need to be prepared for the unexpected.

That is what Pensacola State College’s second annual Campus Safety Month was all about.

Beginning March 1 with a Safety Month Kickoff and Law Enforcement Panel, daily events followed including workshops, trainings, discussions and demonstrations designed to foster safety awareness. A “Safety Day” was held on each campus with representatives from local police and fire departments, the American Red Cross, Escambia County Emergency Management Agency, the Arrive Alive Tour Drunk & Distracted Driving Simulator, and Lakeview Center’s SHAPE (Substance-abuse, HIV Assessment & Prevention Education) on hand.  Free food, T-shirts and other giveaways were a big hit as well.

PSC Planetarium announces Stress Less Week events

As part of Stress Less Week ─ April 23-27, the Pensacola State College Planetarium will present several shows to help take the edge off.

All of the showings of “Dark Side of the Moon,” Tales of the Maya Skies,” “From Earth to the Universe” and “Two Small Pieces of Glass” will be in the Planetarium, Building 21, on the Pensacola campus. Times and dates of the shows are:

Poetry Slam Champion Neil Hilborn to perform Thursday at Pensacola State

Neil Hilborn has overcome some personal struggles in his life. Rather than let them beat his down, Hilborn turn those battles into poetry.

The 2011 College National Poetry Slam Champion, Hilborn will perform at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 5, in the Ashmore Fine Arts Auditorium, Building 8, on the Pensacola campus at 1000 College Blvd.
