In all the hustle and bustle of this outbreak, a concept to remember is that in addition to being a college campus, it is also the educational home of a plethora of dual enrollment students hoping to achieve their college goals. With the closure of the campus, dual enrollment students have been forced into an all-online course load.
Ella Phillips, who is currently attending PSC, details her experience as a dual enrollment student during COVID-19 and her thoughts on the format of all-online classes.
Phillips has goals of studying economics after her time at PSC. However, with this pandemic shutting down all the forms of non-essential travel, her plans have been put on hold.
“My roommate and I have been making plans to take a trip in order to fill out our registration after this is all over,” Phillips said. With travel banned she was forced to do her orientation for her new college online.
“I’m a cross country runner and the worst part about all this is not being able to compete,” said Phillips. The meets were just another in a string of major events to be canceled in order to avoid the spreading of COVID-19.
As a dual enrollment student, she has had dealings with zoom in the past.
“Zoom drives me insane,” Phillips said. Now that PSC has gone to using Zoom for all in-person classes, she is being forced to grin and bear the changes in order to achieve her goals.
