SSS provides many great services to assist you in reaching your academic goals.

Advising/Counseling
SSS coordinators can help students through academic advising, career counseling, financial aid counseling, transfer counseling and personal counseling.

Computer Access
The SSS Tutoring Lab houses six computers available for student use during Lab open hours.

College Visits
Each spring and fall semester, SSS Coordinators take interested students to four-year colleges for a campus visit. Typically in the fall they tour Florida State University (FSU); in the spring, the University of South Alabama (USA) and Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU) are visited.

Cultural Events/Field Trips
Students are more likely to succeed in college when they participate in cultural events that broaden their life experiences. SSS students take part in trips and activities designed to do just that. Those events organized by SSS are free to students. Examples of recent trips include: Bellingrath Gardens, Gulf Coast Exploreum, Wildlife Sanctuary, USS Alabama, and the Mobile Museum of Art.

Educational Videos The SSS Workshop Video Library offers students the opportunity to increase their success by watching videos on such topics as: study skills, test taking, stress management, time management, resume writing, interview skills, healthy and unhealthy relationships.

Financial Literacy Requirement
A financial literacy activity must be completed each semester.

Peer Mentoring
Students have access to a peer mentor, who is a successful SSS student who can provide support, encouragement and practical assistance (e.g. help with scholarship searches) to other SSS students.

Supplemental Grant
Active SSS students who are receiving Pell Grant are eligible to apply for a supplemental grant of $500 per semester, and may be able to receive up to a total of $3,000 during their enrollment at Pensacola State College.

Tutoring
Peer tutors are available to help SSS students develop the skills they need to succeed in college. Individual and group tutoring are available via the SSS Tutoring Lab. Tutoring is offered in most general studies subjects and in other subjects in which there is a high demand for tutoring.
