Repayment of Financial Aid - Title IV Federal Student Aid Repayment Policy

This policy affects all students who receive Title IV student aid, including Federal Pell Grants, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants (FSEOG), Federal Family Education Loans (FFEL) and Academic Competitiveness Grants (ACG).

Any changes in the student's enrollment status as a result of official withdrawals, nonattendance, cancelled classes, or changing from credit to non-credit courses will result in the student's financial aid funds being reduced. Students are responsible for repaying any amounts owed to the college due to changes of enrollment.

The federal law states that federal student aid is to be awarded under the assumption the student will attend school for the entire term. Students who withdraw from all courses prior to completing more than 60% of the term must have their aid eligibility recalculated based on the percent of the term completed. This recalculation could result in a repayment to the federal government of a percentage of the federal aid received.

Pensacola State College is required to share in this repayment responsibility. The student is required to repay Pensacola State College for the portion Pensacola State College repaid the federal government on the student's behalf. All costs of collection including reasonable attorney fees will be the responsibility of the student.

Student must pay the debt in full to re-enroll at Pensacola State College. Students are ineligible for federal aid until they either repay the portion owed to the federal government or make repayment arrangements with the U.S. Department of Education.

It's the law. There are no appeals.

If you have questions concerning the federal law contact the Pensacola State College Financial Aid Office.
