Title:BARBERING INSTRUCTOR

Minimum Qualifications:Graduation from a regionally accredited institution with an associate degree; three years trade experience; and current barbering license. The successful results of a criminal background check are required. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Prefer experience teaching in a barbering program; experience with owning or managing a full service barber shop; experience with curriculum design; and demonstrated proficiency with standard computer software (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet Explorer). Duties:The Barbering Instructor position is a 9-month, tenure-track faculty position with an anticipated start date of May 12, 2014. This position requires a passion for effective teaching and advising of diverse students, excellent oral and written communication skills, and a demonstrated commitment to the comprehensive state college mission. The successful candidate will teach occupational skills and knowledge to provide students with the competence to become skilled in their field; instruct students in the appropriate safety precautions and the safe operation and use of tools and equipment; control the storage, maintenance, and use of materials and property to prevent loss or abuse; and establish and maintain standards of student conduct to provide an orderly, safe, and productive environment in an activity-type classroom. Additionally, the instructor will make continuous efforts to improve the quality of instruction by reviewing and utilizing innovative methodologies, techniques, and delivery methods; plan, develop, and use a variety of teaching methods and materials that assist students in meeting course objectives and which are appropriate for students with differing educational and experiential backgrounds and learning styles; evaluate students to measure their progress toward achievement of stated course objectives; keep accurate student records and submit related reports and forms within requested timelines, recruit eligible students; assist with determining appropriate program specific learning outcomes; participate in the assessment of student learning outcomes; and collaborate with administrators to strengthen program advisory committees. This position reports to the Acting District Department Head, Cosmetic Arts.
Salary:$32,251.00 - $38,251.00 (Entry level salary is computed and based on authority of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.)
