Master Swimmers at Pensacola State College swim at different times during the day and night. They are swimmers, 18 years old and above, who want to improve their swimming ability, get a good workout and achieve their fitness goals. They swim at 5:30am and 8am on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 5:30am and 9am on Tuesday and Thursday, and/or during RecreationSwim hours. The 5:30am, 8am, and 9am swimmers sign up for a class called Aerobic Swimming, which has a swim coach/instructor, who gives workouts to the swimmers, monitors their progress and helps them develop their strokes and endurance.
Some swimmers are triathletes, who want to improve their swimming ability to compete in open water swimming.
The master swim team at Pensacola State College is the Gulf Coast Pirate Swimmers. The team is registered with United States Masters Swimming. Swimmers who compete in sanctioned swim meets throughout the year are members of USMS. For more information about USMS you may go to www.usms.org.
