What should my child
Gymnastics class students should wear athletic type clothing with
no buttons or zippers. Leotards are available for sale at the gym
if they would like to wear one. Shirts should be tucked in. No shoes
needed. No big ear rings and no rings or bracelets.
Cheerleaders and tumbling classes should were athletic clothing and
a shirt tucked in. They can go with or without cheer shoes.
What class should my child sign up for?
If they have never taken gymnastics before, they should sign up for
Girls, Level 1, Boys, Level 1-3, Cheerleading or Tumbling, Level 1
depending on which type of gymnastics they want.
If they have taken gymnastics before, call us and we may be able to
determine what level they need to be in over the phone. If we can’t
we will schedule a time for you to come in so we can see your
What is the difference between the classes?
The Parent Assisted classes are designed for children 18 months
through two and a half years old and their parents. The main focus
of the class is to teach the children in a positive, safe and,
"mommy-secure" environment. The students work on eye-hand
coordination, motor skills, strength, agility, and body awareness
with the aid of their parents. The equipment used is smaller and
designed especially for preschoolers.
The Tiny Tumblers classes are designed for children three and four
years of age with a student/teacher ratio of 6:1. The focus of the
class is a positive learning experience while working on basic motor
skills, eye-hand coordination, strength, agility, and beginning
gymnastics skills. The children work on all the gymnastics
equipment, which is lowered for their height, as well as specially
designed preschool equipment.
The Kindergym program is designed for children five years old. The
focus of the class is to teach strength, agility, basic locomotor
and non-locomotor skills in a safe and fun atmosphere. These classes
have a 6:1 student/teacher ratio. Pensacola State College also offers an Advanced
Girls Levels classes are for girls in the first grade and above. Pensacola State College
offers beginning classes (levels 1 & 2), intermediate classes
(levels 3 & 4) and advanced classes (levels 4-6) to accommodate the
different skill levels of each student. The girls work on the four
Olympic events (vault, uneven bars, balance beam, and floor
exercise) as well as the tumble track. The classes have an 8:1
student/teacher ratio and focus on teaching gymnastics skills and
conditioning through progressions in a safe and positive atmosphere.
Pensacola State College offers Boys beginning Level 1-3 and advanced Level 4-6 classes
for ages 1st grade and up. The boys work on the floor exercise, the
high bar, the parallel bars, rings, vault, pommel horse and tumble
track. The classes have an 8:1 student/teacher ratio and focus on
the teaching of basic gymnastics skills and conditioning through
progressions in a safe and positive atmosphere.
The Cheerleading classes are for student’s ages 6 to 9 year olds and
10 years old through high school. Each class has an 8:1
student/teacher ratio. The main focus of this class is to teach
tumbling skills, cheerleading jumps and motions. The use of strength
conditioning and progressive training are used in a safe and
enthusiastic environment to enhance the students cheerleading
The Tumbling classes focus strictly on floor tumbling skills both
backwards and forward.
Can I sign my child up for a class that is not in their age
No, all children must be in a class that is appropriate for their
age as listed in the course schedule. If your child has a birthday
before the fourth class meeting then they may go into the class that
is appropriate for the age they are getting ready to turn.
If you have registered online in the past, type in your child’s student number or social security number and PIN. If you have not registered online in the past, click the blue button that says “Continuing Education, Rec. and Leisure, CWE courses”. Then follow the prompts.
Once you have logged on click on the “register” button.
If you are registering for either our Fall A or B term click on the Fall A term. If you are registering for either our Spring A or B term click on the Spring A term. If you are registering for either our Summer A or B term click on the Summer A term. Note: This is where many people get confused. Always select the A term under Fall, Spring or Summer for the A and B term gymnastics classes.
If you know the section number, type it in and click “Add Now”. You will see to the right that it has been added to your “Trial Schedule”.
If you do not know the section number, select the course in the toggle menu (all gymnastics courses start with R0????). Then click on “Find Sections”. Take note of the “start’ and “end” dates of the section. This selection will show both our A and B terms. Click on the section you would like and click on the “Add course to my trial schedule” button.
When you’re finished adding courses to your trial schedule click on “Confirm”.
Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the registration process and pay for the classes.
