Catalog Description: Introduces the nursing student to client care needs: safe effective care environment, health promotion and maintenance, psychosocial integrity, and physiological integrity. Client care needs, professional behaviors, communication, clinical decision-making, caring interventions, teaching and learning collaboration, and managing care activities form the integrated framework for clinical practice in long term and acute care settings.

Special Requirements: DOSAGES AND SOLUTIONS TEST: Students are required to take the Dosages and Solutions Test as a measure for program progression. To successfully pass this test, students must achieve a score of 90% or better within two attempts. The student's score on this test does NOT count toward the student's course grade, but it is a requirement to progress to the next course.

Methods of Evaluation: Evaluation of the student's level of success in meeting the course objectives and expected learning outcomes is the responsibility of the instructor, within the policies of Pensacola State College and the Nursing Department. Competency will be measured through in-class exams and other graded assignments, safe/satisfactory completion of lab/skills competencies, and safe/satisfactory clinical performance assessment. Detailed explanations are included in the expanded Syllabus developed by the instructor for each section being taught.
Flexibility: It is the intention of the instructor to accomplish the objectives specified in the course syllabus. However, circumstances may arise which prohibit the fulfilling of this endeavor. Therefore, this syllabus is subject to change. When possible, students will be notified of any change in advance of its occurrence.
Student Email Accounts Pensacola State College provides an institutional email account to all credit students. Pirate Mail is the official method of communication, and students must use Pirate Mail when communicating with the College. In cases where companion software is used for a particular class, emails may be exchanged between instructor and student using the companion software.
