Catalog Description: 
This course introduces the student to the basics of internetworking
technology. This is also the first of four courses designed to 
prepare a student to take the Cisco Certified Network Associate
Exam. The student will study Networks and Layers, Networking 
Devices,IP Addressing, ARP and RARP, Media and Design, Topology, 
Structured Cabling, Electricity and Electronics, and Network 
Management.

Course Learning Outcomes: 
The student will:

    

  1. Create patch cables

  2. Build a simple network of hosts, cables, hubs, and routers.

  3. Troubleshoot PC hardware and software, patch cables, and
device problems.

  4. Design, build, test and document the wiring part of a network
installation.
Methods of Evaluation: 
Evaluation of the student progress towards achieving stated learning 
outcomes and performance objectives is the responsibility of the 
instructor, within the policies of the college and the department.  
Detailed explanation is included in the expanded syllabus developed 
by the instructor for each section being taught.
Flexibility: It is the intention of the instructor to accomplish the objectives specified in the course syllabus. However, circumstances may arise which prohibit the fulfilling of this endeavor. Therefore, this syllabus is subject to change. When possible, students will be notified of any change in advance of its occurrence.
Student Email Accounts: Pensacola State College provides an institutional email account to all credit students. In cases where companion software is used for a particular class, emails may be exchanged between instructor and student using the companion software.
