The Educator Preparation Institute (EPI) is an accredited teacher preparation program that allows students to obtain a Florida Teaching Certification. EPI was designed for individuals who have already earned a bachelorís or advanced degree in an area other than education but who are now interested in the teaching profession. EPI students complete two semesters (fall and spring) of online coursework, two 15 hour Field Observations in a K-12 public school setting, and submit a Professional Portfolio. EPI students must also pass three State Exams: Professional Exam, Subject Area Exam (for the area they will teach), and a General Knowledge Exam. Finally, EPI Graduates apply for teaching positions in Florida K-12 schools.
